Madonnina (persons 4; 80 sqm.)
The web listing says that this apartment lies in the historical part of the city of Lucca. First floor: entrance into an ante-chamber, living room with upholstered furniture, well equipped kitchen corner with heart/oven, fridge/freezer, 1 double bedroom, 1 twin bedroom, bathroom with shower, tv, washing machine. Terrace with table and chairs, views onto the old walls of Lucca.

We describe it this way:
Two large bedrooms, living room/kitchen, washing machine, balcony. Modern kitchen equipment. Traditional bedroom and living room furniture. Uncomfortable but traditional living room couch. Television. Small writing room in L of living room. Renovated in 1999. Second floor. (North American). Shrine to Mary in the stairway of the apartment building.

Located near the walls (Porta Elisa) and in an unfashionable district (at least according to guidebooks!) of Lucca within the walls. We enjoyed the fabulous walkable city. Great restaurants, shopping, architecture. This was our favourite apartment of the three.

Friendly business-like agent (only one who took a damage deposit - unsigned travellers’ cheques and returned them early on the day we were leaving as arranged). Free parking outside the walls - you can drive in to drop your luggage. It is about 15 minute walk to the free car parking. Train station for cheap trips to Firenze (1 1/2 hours, about $8-10 Cdn, less in a party of 4!)

No extra costs in October 2000. Bed linen, towels, kitchen towels, utilities, final cleaning, etc. included. Overall assessment: easy to like apartment in a great city. We would stay there again.

We found this apartment had all the amenities a city stay would require. Being recently renovated, it was clean and fresh. Lucca was a joy. We highly recommend this apartment.
